Ajman Transport Authority Launches Phase One of Open and Contactless Payment System on Public Buses
Ajman Transport Authority has announced the launch of the open and contactless payment system on public buses, marking a major step towards advancing smart transportation and enhancing service efficiency. With this initiative, the authority becomes the first entity in the UAE to implement this cutting-edge technology.
The system allows passengers to make payments seamlessly and securely using bank cards and smart payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even wearable payment devices like smartwatches. This innovation simplifies commuting and enhances the overall user experience.
Smart payment devices have already been installed on all public buses, with the service now active on internal routes . There are also plans to extend it to external routes in the near future.
Additionally, the authority has developed the "Masar Travel" smart app, enabling passengers to plan their trips, track buses in real time, link their bank cards, and access their travel history —further improving public transport accessibility and supporting the emirate’s digital transformation.
The project also includes an advanced fare calculation system based on zones and stops. It offers full monitoring of all transactions, generating performance, administrative, and operational reports, including revenue and financial reports . The system also features driver scheduling tools , a ticket inspection system for quality control, and a bus handover and reception feature to ensure smooth and secure operations.
Furthermore, the system provides a multi-channel login/logout function , making it easier for users to interact. It also enables revenue distribution across different transport categories, such as public buses, on-demand buses, and ferries (Abra service), ensuring more effective financial management.
